"…I know how to abound…" — Philippians 4:12
Without doubt, there are many believers who have not learned how to abound. It is possible for a believer to lose their profession of faith — and the crucible of adversity often brings less severe trial than the fining-pot of prosperity. We need to obey God fully, following the example of the Apostle Paul, who knew how to abound: when he had much, he knew how to use it for God's glory, and the abundant grace of God met his needs as he served Him faithfully.
Paul said, 'In all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry' (Philippians 4:12). Many are full and have forgotten God — satisfied with the world, content to do without the hope of heaven or the things of God. But we should hold to this truth: it is harder to know how to be full than to know how to be hungry. Let us resist personal aggrandizement, and the forgetfulness of the Lord God Almighty that prosperity can breed.
We need to put our hope and trust in the Lord, and live to obey and please Him — for that is faith, and without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).
May the Lord God Almighty strengthen you, bless you, and use you for His glory. Amen!
