"…be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble." — 1 Peter 5:5

In this world, we need to be humble. Humility, joined with faith, should keep growing in us if we are to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). Pride has no place on God's agenda; it leads to things that do not please Him.

There are six things the Lord hates — yes, seven are an abomination to Him: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet swift to run to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:16-19). Let us resist all these, to please God.

He loves to develop humility in us as we submit to Him, and He revives the spirit of the humble. When the prophet Isaiah glimpsed the greatness of the Lord, he bowed before Him in humility (Isaiah 6:1, 5). The closer we draw to the Lord, the more humble we become; as we focus on His word and seek a deeper relationship with Him, pride departs and we grow strong in humility. There can be no spiritual revival without humility. Remember — had Christ not been humble, the road to eternal life would never have opened to us.

May God strengthen you to be humble, to be fully connected with Him, and to live forever with Him. Amen!
