Be Patient

Before the miracle of the loaves, Jesus asked the crowd to sit down (Matthew 14:19). In an age of impatience, learning to be still in His presence is where His hand meets our lives.

"Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10

We live in an age of impatience. Everyone is on a fast track, constantly on the go, barely finding enough time to settle down. Yet when Jesus fed the multitude, the first thing He required was not effort but stillness.

Many remember the famous miracle of the five loaves and two fish (Matthew 14:16-21). But look closely at verse 19: "And he directed the people to sit down on the grass." Before He fed them, Jesus simply asked the crowd to sit down. He wanted their presence — and, most of all, their undistracted attention. Before they could be fed by Him, they had to first find a seat in His presence.

When it comes to dealing with God, we must learn the art of patience, of remaining still before Him. We cannot keep running every day like the children of the world. Those who experience the hand of Jesus in their lives are the ones in no hurry to leave His presence — those who are content simply to sit before Him.

So be patient; Jesus is at work. May you truly obey God and do His will, so that His purpose and blessings for you are fulfilled. Amen!
