"As the Father hath sent Me, even so send I you." — John 20:21
There is an old saying: a herald should fear and honor the one who sends him, not the one he is sent to. Yet today we talk, teach, and preach about the Great Commission far more than we get involved in it. And what is the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)? Simply this — telling the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ to the saving of men and women wallowing in sin and the troubles of life.
What qualifies you to tell it is that you yourself have been saved from the corruption of the world (2 Peter 1:2-4) and empowered by the Spirit of God to be His witness (Acts 1:8) in every corner of the earth — that you might be His channel to save others (Jude 23). Just as Isaiah was cleansed and sent (Isaiah 6:5-9), God has called and sent you as Christ's ambassador (2 Corinthians 5:20) today.
If God did not believe you could deliver His Gospel to your world, Scripture would not have declared that you are able (Mark 16:15; Luke 24:48). Every faithful messenger delivers his master's message promptly. Do not disappoint God again this week.
Joyfully, wisely, and warmly, speak to your neighbor, your colleague, your friend — even a stranger — about the love of God waiting to save them from their hidden ordeals. Go, and do not disappoint God.
