God Strengthens Us!

Luke 3:4 — the voice crying in the wilderness: prepare the way of the Lord. On leveling self-sufficiency, refocusing the wavering heart, and letting God make the crooked way straight.

"…the voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord…" — Luke 3:4

God wants us to submit fully to Him, that He may direct us into His purpose and plan for our lives — for we are to follow His way and His leading. The voice crying in the wilderness fixes our attention on the way of the Lord. God asks us to give Him our hearts, so that He can move us through the deserts of our lives; and He asks us to lay down our spiritual weakness and our low commitment to the things of His kingdom.

We are to resist doubt and selfishness, and to raise the causeway of grace above all worldly things. The spirit of self-sufficiency and boastfulness must be leveled, that we may receive the blessing and strength of God — for God attends to the lowly (Psalm 138:6) and revives the contrite in heart (Psalm 51:17). The wavering heart must be refocused on the Lord to be made secure; double-mindedness has no place in His plan.

We are encouraged that the crooked way will be made straight (Luke 3:5) as we submit to God. Every stumbling block of sin must be removed, and everything that stands against spiritual progress cleared away — and this is done as we diligently study God's Word and commune with Him.

May the Lord God draw you closer to Him, and perfect all that concerns you. Amen!
