Remain Faithful!

Galatians 5:17 — the flesh wars against the Spirit. On the daily struggle between the old nature and the new, and the Captain of our salvation who makes us more than conquerors.

"For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh…" — Galatians 5:17

In every believer there is a constant struggle between the old nature and the new. The old is extremely active, losing no opportunity to turn its weapons against the newborn grace within, while the new nature stands on watch to resist the enemy of the soul. Grace within us employs faith, prayer, hope, and love, puts on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:11), and wrestles earnestly.

The enemy is so securely entrenched within that he cannot be fully driven out while we remain in this body. But we have an Almighty Helper — the Captain of our salvation, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ — ever with us to make us more than conquerors through Him. So the newborn nature is more than a match for its foes.

As people of God, we should not be afraid or dismayed, for God is with us (Joshua 1:9). Jehovah Nissi is our banner, and Jehovah Rapha the healer of our wounds. We need not fear, for in Him we overcome, and no one can defeat us in the Omnipotent God. Let us keep looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and in every situation our victory in Him will be sweet.

May the Lord encourage and strengthen you in every situation. Amen!
