We Overcome Through Christ!

1 Thessalonians 2:18 — Satan hinders us at every turn, especially in prayer. But the God who gave us power over the enemy makes us overcomers through Christ.

"…Satan hindered us." — 1 Thessalonians 2:18

From the moment good came into conflict with evil, it has never ceased to be true that Satan hinders us. From the dawn of day to the midnight hour, he hinders us. When we toil in the field, he seeks to break the plough; when we build the walls, he labors to cast down the stones. Whenever we serve God, Satan hinders us.

He hindered us when we first came to Jesus and looked to the cross and lived; now that we are saved, he strives to hinder our spiritual growth. Even when we are walking consistently in faith, we must beware of the one who always directs his engines against the people of God. Let us remain steadfast in our trust, hope, and obedience.

Remember, Satan is sure to hinder us when we are earnest in prayer. He checks our persistence and seeks to weaken our faith so we might miss God's blessing. He tried it even with our Lord Jesus Christ: after Christ had fasted forty days and forty nights and was hungry, Satan tempted Him — and Jesus answered, 'You shall not tempt the Lord your God' (Matthew 4:2, 7). If Satan dared to tempt Christ, how much more will he try us?

But glory be to God, who has given us the power to overcome the enemy. May the love, mercy, and protection of God abide in you forever. Amen!
